Socialtext updates their UI

One of the complaints that is often heard about Socialtext is that the user interface is not well designed. I’m not going to disagree with this sentiment, in fact I have said as much to Ross, but at the same time I want to recognize that the company has not been sitting idle. Beginning next […]

Top 10 Applications for an Enterprise Wiki

It would have been nice to have this list available as a wiki so we could add to it! Of the top 10 on this list I think application/customer support, project management, and research are the “killer” apps. At the same time I would like to see wiki companies get beyond the basic blank piece […]

Wetpaint launches

Wetpaint launched their public wiki service today featuring a nicely designed user experience, contextual advertising, and some great customer wikis, including my own Indian Motorcycle Wiki.

I haven’t invested nearly as much effort in my wiki as some of the other beta sites, which really started out as a simple reference wiki for me to keep […]

Socialtext and WikiCalc Join Forces

Ross announced today that Socialtext and Dan Bricklin have joined forces in the market by bringing together Socialtext’s wiki solution with Dan’s WikiCalc spreadsheet.

The immediate reaction to this is no doubt that a spreadsheet in a multiuser edit mode is certainly a good thing, indeed it’s been my view that even if all Socialtext gets […]

SAPPHIRE Wiki

I didn’t want to post this in my earlier post about blogging at SAPPHIRE because it really deserves special attention. In addition to blogging at SAPPHIRE we are doing some pretty cool stuff with an eventspace wiki. The SAPPHIRE Wiki is hosted by Socialtext and it was through the tireless efforts of Julia French at […]

Jot acquired by Yahoo!

Mike heard this rumor as well.

Based on the call I had yesterday about this and the quality of the source, I’d give it better than 85% probability, more like 99%.

So Yahoo! is getting in the wiki space. Given that Jot has pretty much regressed to consumer wikis it makes sense, but at the same time […]

Commercialization of wikis

Check out this shopping/search site and associated buying guide wikis. Pretty cool.

UPDATE: I was remiss in not pointing out that Amazon has had product wikis for some time, along with a search function. It appears that they have not had a lot of uptake with this, and the most edited wikis are attached to books, which surprises me.

Technorati […]

Hey Miki! | Socialtext Enterprise Wiki

Ross showed me his Mobile Wiki client on Nokia cellphone yesterday, very cool. One of my guys has been testing the blackberry version for a while and reports that it works well and offers snappy performance, something I find a lot of mobile clients can’t claim. This is a really important addition for us simply […]

Speedfiler Add-on for Outlook

I can’t think of a single application that I can’t do without but would most like to get rid of (please, no emails about Outlook substitutes, they just won’t work on SAP’s network against our Exchange infrastructure)…. SpeedFiler is an add-on for Microsoft Outlook that helps you keep your email organized by speeding up the process of filing your incoming and outgoing messages, without requiring you to change the way you work or organize your mail.
