I was told that when George Bush became president that this kind of stuff would happen, squashing of property rights and a Stalinist regime that would seek to invade and control our private lives… who knew it would actually happen in San Francisco.

Building inspectors would receive police training and have new powers to inspect properties and fine owners, said a Building Inspection Department official.

Imagine the howls of protest if we were talking about giving social workers or nurses police training and powerful rules to dictate how people live? It’s really the same thing, just with a less sympathetic class that the overlords wish to regulate… property owners.
