Frustration Free Packaging

Posted by Jeff as Uncategorized

This is a truly great initiative, as any parent who has had to deal with the gauntlet of plastic clamshells, plastic coated wires, and interlocking packages will attest to. I dread those plastic wires the most. On a more serious note, this is also a great example of a company that takes the attitude that if it’s good for customers it’s good for them. Standardization of packages would also be a boon for online merchants who struggle to contain logistics costs.

Frustration-Free Packaging is being launched in the U.S. with 19 bestselling products from leading manufacturers including Fisher-Price, Mattel, Microsoft and electronics manufacturer Transcend. The product is exactly the same – Amazon has just streamlined the packaging. The project will expand across Amazon’s international sites beginning in 2009.
