I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a while. Here’s some updates from people I respect:
Craig Cmehil
When I was at SAP Craig became one of my heroes when he put out a PHP toolkit not because someone told him to but because he thought it was a good idea. He has a can-do attitude and despite having a young family he displays boundless energy and optimism about new things, which is a rarity in big tech companies. I was super happy to see that he was asked to become an SAP Ventures Fellow. This is a neat program that is similar to an EIR position in traditional venture firms, and I know that Craig’s contributions will be both substantial and thoughtful.
Etay Gafni
Also an SAP alum, my good friend Etay Gafni is now the VP Products at Veodia. Etay is, like Craig, one of those guys you want to search out when you are in a big tech company. I always enjoyed my interactions with him while there and stayed in touch with him after I left, usually bumping into him at various conferences and events. He will do well and Veodia and they are lucky to have him.
Kevin Cawley
When I joined NewsGator one of first people to poke his head into my office and say hello was Kevin Cawley, so it made me really sad to learn he was leaving the company. I don’t think I have ever seen Kevin without a smile on his face, the kind of smile that comes from deep down inside when you really mean it. Kevin is a very talented technologist and will continue to be my go-to person for anything mobile, among many other topics. Kevin is starting a new company that is on the cutting edge of leveraging social networks for business… but I’ll leave it to him to tell the world what it’s about, and will continue to wish him much success and good fortune not just in business but also in life.
