The issue of property title is going to be a mess when the Castro (Fidel or Raul) finally falls. My family was looking to buy some property in Nicaragua and ran into some of these chain of title issues. Germany had to deal with it as well in the early 90&#039;s, but that gov&#039;t had the money to essentially buy former claims out. I don&#039;t think that&#039;s going to be the case in Cuba. 
Personally, I&#039;m going to wait a few years to let the dust settle before buying my Cuban beach house.
