SFGate Facelift

The Chronicle website received a much needed facelift on the news page, it looks really good. I wish it had more user configuration capability, in other words, I would like it to let me arrange the content.

Sure could use some widgets…

Fixed Gmail

On my own… no thanks to Google. I was unable to get to the gmail login screen even after blowing out the cache, deleting the cookie, doing a dance and sacrificing a baby goat. The gmail community forum was useless and absent of any apparent contact mechanism I put out a call for help here [...]

Help with Gmail

Anyone know someone at Google that can escalate my gmail ‘is undergoing maintenance’ problem? I’ve been without it for over a day and that’s a real problem considering I use gmail interchangeably with my business email.

My New Position at NewsGator

http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release.do?id=811444

When I joined NewsGator last year I knew the company had not just a great team but also an impressive portfolio of products. I quickly realized that we had something very unique among enterprise software companies, the ability to create a saas business that was not dependent on the enterprise business but whose success would [...]

Google’s Customer Support (ROFL)

My Gmail account has been inaccessible most of the day, something vague about my account being under maintenance. I emailed the provided email address tonight to see what was the status and when I’d get my account back. Here’s their response, I’ve highlighted the part that had me picking my jaw up off the floor… [...]

Quick Hits

I noticed that Dennis was using snurl.com instead of tinyurl to post links on Twitter, I’ve been using it now and have to say that it is much much better, mostly just quicker, for reducing urls. I have been trying to find utility in the Yahoo! Shortcuts plugin [...]

100 Million Handsets

Wow, Sony Ericsson’s announcement that they sold 100 million handsets in 2007 is impressive… that is 3 handsets every second for those of you interested in trivial math. Kind of puts Apple’s announcement yesterday about selling 4 million iPhones in perspective… even if Apple sells 15-20 million iPhones over a couple of years they will [...]

Sun Acquiring MySQL

This is great news for MÃ¥rten and the team at MySQL.

SAP Ventures is an investor in MySQL. It was always one of my greatest frustrations at SAP that they (as in SAP the company) would complain about sending over $1b of license revenue to Oracle each year but were unwilling to fully commit to supporting [...]

Gmail is Seriously Borked

For the second time in as many months, I am having serious Gmail problems.

People are telling me that gmail is replying to them that “your message may not have been delivered”. I know for fact that not all messages are being delivered because I sent one to myself that never got there.

[...]

Competition is a Good Thing

Somewhat ironic to think that the biggest threat to the economics of music sales isn’t coming from illegal downloading but rather from the dominance of iTunes and inevitable commoditization of pricing that comes from competitors who have to resort to scorched earth pricing in order to establish a market position in the absence of compelling [...]
