UPDATE: Even though it would deprive me of good material in an otherwise Beacongate dominated news week, the no-bullshit way to host this conference would have been to do it in Second Life as Kristine points out in the comments. Not only would a SL summit not emit the emissions of a small country, it would send a clear message that the climate change hand wavers at the UN are actually serious about dealing with this issue, and lastly, it would be a more responsible use of funds that ultimately come from the taxpayers of the donor countries.
Step 1: Select a resort destination on a South Pacific island that requires everyone, especially the industrialized nations, to fly thousands of miles to get there. Well at least the Australians have a reasonable flight.
As has been said before, I’ll start acting like this is a crisis when the people telling me it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis.
BTW, if you read the article you will see a statement that Indonesia claims it has planted 79 million trees in recent weeks… does anyone really believe that 79 MILLION TREES were planted in RECENT WEEKS?
