How To Host a Global Warming Conference

Posted by Jeff as Uncategorized

UPDATE: Even though it would deprive me of good material in an otherwise Beacongate dominated news week, the no-bullshit way to host this conference would have been to do it in Second Life as Kristine points out in the comments. Not only would a SL summit not emit the emissions of a small country, it would send a clear message that the climate change hand wavers at the UN are actually serious about dealing with this issue, and lastly, it would be a more responsible use of funds that ultimately come from the taxpayers of the donor countries.

Step 1: Select a resort destination on a South Pacific island that requires everyone, especially the industrialized nations, to fly thousands of miles to get there. Well at least the Australians have a reasonable flight.

As has been said before, I’ll start acting like this is a crisis when the people telling me it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis.

BTW, if you read the article you will see a statement that Indonesia claims it has planted 79 million trees in recent weeks… does anyone really believe that 79 MILLION TREES were planted in RECENT WEEKS?

“Nobody denies this is an important event, but huge numbers of people are going, and their emissions are probably going to be greater than a small African country,” said Chris Goodall, author of the book “How to Live a Low-Carbon Life.” [From More than 10,000 jet into Bali for global warming conference]
