When has the government been successful at promoting anything? They struggle getting the facts out on digital TV transition…

Insofar are subsidy, they are… or more accurately, we taxpayers are doing it.

The government should be doing more to promote this technology. They should be subsidizing the development of this stuff. These technology’s are the gateway to the future.

Jeff, I agree with your healthy dose of cynicism.

Someone will get this right, maybe Shai, maybe not, but it isn’t going to happen that quickly.

The sheer infrastructure required will take a long, long time to get in place. Just look at what it has taken to get a marginally functional wireless data infrastructure in place (or not).

That said, this is precisely the type of area where we need “a quest”. Much like the commitment to go the moon in the early 60′s, we need a chartered effort to attack the energy challenges head on.

I applaud Shai and his team for taking on the challenge, but in the end, it will take hundreds of billions in capital investment to realize this type of tectonic shift in the way we view transporation and energy.
