I would have agreed with you on Monday, but given that Apple has done an about face and committed to giving developers an SDK, well maybe there is hope that the chain link fence around the iPhone will at least have the razor wire removed.

True, the verdict is still out on the PSP other than purchasing UMDs for movies. It has so much unfulfilled promise as you note and I'm wondering if Apple is going down the same path by trying to keep the iPhone/iTouch closed....

John,
The PSP is an interesting study in itself but if it's a failure (which is debatable) then it is so because of a lack of imagination by Sony. The PSP could be so much more but Sony just won't let it be.

I think you were spot on all along. My son gave up on Sony over a year and a half ago and sold his PS2 and PSP for the 360. We have HD-DVD add-on too so I'm happy Sony is stumbling with the PS3 and Blu-Ray.

You written about Sony's flawed PSP strategy in the past so it would interesting to hear your thoughts on it's recent efforts and closed ecosystem versus the iPhone.
