I don&#039;t think SAP is truly serious about winning in the platform technology market. I do think that SAP wants to have a great platform from which to build and extend SAP applications, but that&#039;s as far as it goes. 

Acquiring BEA would signal an intention they just don&#039;t seem to have the will for.</description>

		<description>Jeff, while I think SAP would be a long shot, I don&#039;t think it is completely out of the question.  One missing piece of the puzzle for most of the app server vendors is a robust solution for managing and developing in an SOA world...WebMethods arguably had some of the best SOA infrastructure and management tools, but they&#039;re already gone.  Aqualogic might be the thing that would push SAP over the top if they really wanted to make NetWeaver a non-SAP app platform (and a really good SAP app platform).
