		<description>Mugabe has another motivation, like all modern populists he grip on power is dependent on portraying himself as the victim of foreign interference as a mask for the problems he himself has created. Chavez is doing the same thing.

Insofar as Iran, who else do they have to align themselves with? The outcasts of the world are all they have left.</description>

		<description>Mugabe&#039;s motivation for any alliance would be clear.  He needs money.  He&#039;s squeeze the lemon that is Zimbabwe almost completely dry of juice and is now just holding on for as many more months as he can.  Inflation there (as I&#039;m sure you know) will soon be approaching Weimar Germany levels. 

I&#039;m not sure why Iran would want to ally itself with countries who are clearly only in it for the money.  They are having terrible issues maintaining their oil infrastructure without the input of multinational firms and actually have to import gasoline (which they subsidize heavily) for their domestic market.</description>
