Carel,
Good question, it really doesn't compare because it's not manipulating the feed at all, just displaying it.

You could pipe my feed into Pipes or Dapper independent of the widget. I guess you could create a new widget based on the output of either... interesting to consider.

Jeff,
How does your widget compare to a Yahoo Pipe (http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/) or even Dapper (http://www.dapper.net/).
Thanks,
Carel.

Jeff - this is a very useful widget. I just installed the BlogRush widget and immediately regretted it, as Rob La Gesse blogged at http://lagesse.org/blogrush-must-be-run-by-12-year-olds/

Looks like a great opportunity for NewsGator!

yeah Phil, that's why widgets were once called "private label readers".

If you look at growth of feeds versus growth of feed readers (making assumptions about the ratio of feeds to users) you see fewer people are using readers to get their feeds. Put another way, growth of feed consumption is outstripping growth of feed readers as standalone client apps. 60% of the time spent on Netvibes is reading feeds through their modules.

The widget, as I have made available, is deployable on start pages, in other blogs, etc.

If you had a scrolling widget that rolls up posts in your blogroll on a continual basis, why would you need a feedreader? The two concepts are conceptually the same, the only difference is the execution.
