Oh, I'm not aware of the BB Pearl's features. I was referring to the 8700 and it certainly isn't apparent. A co-worker tipped me off to the "feature" after he couldn't figure out how to dial a number with alpha characters. (The BlackBerry's with full keyboards don't show the normal 2=ABC, 3=DEF etc. So, without it there could be plenty of confusion if you call an office directory and need to enter the first few letters of a last name or call a number as you mentioned)

With all the money Sirius throws around, you would think they could get something better than 539-SIRI!

John,
While I won't say this is not possible on my Blackbery Pearl, I will say that if it is it is certainly not readily apparent.

Direct marketers have known for a long time that these numbers with text in them actually hurt your response. So they typically offer both options. What they do accomplish is help you remember a number but if only part of the number is text or a goofy word it's a waste

It's not obvious, but having been in that situation, RIM is a step ahead of Sirius. Where Sirius has left you hanging your BlackBerry actually lets you enter the letters SIRI and it will dial 7474.
