Chris Davies, a British member of the European Parliament, is proposing one of the most-extreme measures — a prohibition on any car that goes faster than 162 kilometers (101 miles) an hour, a speed that everything from the humble Honda Civic on up can exceed. He ridiculed fast cars as “boys’ toys.”
We fought a revolution against the British for less… and I wouldn’t count on much support from the Germans or Italians on this either.
On a serious note, Davies is factually wrong on several points, the fastest cars are not heavier but rather lighter and the famed German autobahn actually has fewer fatalities per capita than other countries. Besides, aren’t politicans in Britain concerned about cow farts at the moment?
