Jeff Barr’s Google Recruiting Driveby
Jeff Barr posts about his experience with Google’s recruiters:
Last year Google tried to convince me to join their ranks. I had a nice trip to Mountain View, a pleasant day of interviews, and a glimpse inside of their campus. All pretty cool. I ended up shutting down the process between the [...]
Pork Addiction
This is outrageous, really. It’s not a Republican vs. Democrat issue, it’s Congress vs. the American People. Representatives and Senators talk nonstop about accountability and transparency but the fact is that they act to reduce accountability and transparency rather than increase it.
What is worse is that Congress’ job approval ratings are shockingly low and falling [...]
Google Increases Attachment Size in Gmail
You can now attach up to 20mb files to Gmail messages, that’s up from 10mb. There was a time when a number of services developed that enabled the sending of large files over email, I would imagine their oxygen just got sucked out. To be fair, there are a couple that have developed much richer [...]
The Business of Mashups: APIs (the Buy Side)
Yesterday I wrote about APIs and mashups, focusing on the publishing of APIs. Today I want to cover some ground from the other direction, building out a business using APIs to access other people’s code (OPC).
Here’s the first reality you should consider, there is no 11th amendment to the Bill of Rights that states your [...]
Let’s Count the Hypocrisies
UPDATE: Migden was driving a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, not a Ford Escape… guess she isn’t into supporting U.S. businesses (with taxpayer money). At any rate, my point #3 still stands because California included Toyota in the lawsuit I mentioned. BTW, the Highlander replaced the State purchased 2005 Cadillac STS that Migden was driving up until [...]
Google Flirts With Evil
Eric Schmidt, Google’s chief executive, said gathering more personal data was a key way for Google to expand and the company believes that is the logical extension of its stated mission to organise the world’s information.
Personally, I’ve never been much concerned about these issues but I understand that some people are, [...]
Founder Blues
I didn’t need to be a genius to see t where things were headed. This week my “partners†canned me. The official reason is “termination without cause,†which is important only because it ensures that I will receive a substantial number of shares (and small amount of cash) in the company, [...]
That’s a Lot of Laundry
Crikey, authorities in Dubai have broken up a money laundering operation through which over USD$20 billion flowed, originating in Colombia.
Ellison Eclipsed By the Red Moon
"But as the losses mounted against Luna Rossa, disgruntled supporters sent e-mails to the BMW Oracle team calling Ellison an egomaniac and questioning the team’s confident, corporate approach, which had propelled it to the top ranks of the favorites to race against Alinghi."
No way! Egomaniac? Puuhhhhllleeeeze, they are just jealous!
Actually, I [...]
When Public Comment Includes All of the Public
Why can’t the government (state and local for that matter) do something like this for all new legislation? Not only are all 325 pages of the much discussed immigration bill laid out in a manner that makes for manageable reading, but each section can be commented on.
