Paul: security is YOUR problem - but only for access to YOUR system, however that may be represented. But we know that model is broken - as a consumer of your service, I don't want to have to replicate ad infinitum all the claims and credentials I have already given to several others, and will no doubt be asked to give to several more, and which invariably require more knowledge of me than is actually required to USE your service, but adds to your confidence in me as a 'real' person. Already I am refusing to take up some services that add to this problem.

That doesn't mean that the problem is fixed yet - but OpenID and Infocards are useful steps along the way to you and I being confident enough in each others' identity on the Web to comfortably do business.

We looked closely at using OpenID with Big Contacts. At the end of the day, access security is our problem and we just don't feel comfortable outsourcing that. But, I keep watching and waiting.

Perhaps a combination of OpenID and Infocards? The Microsoft branding has hindered the interest in Infocards to some extent (despite Kim Cameron's best efforts) but one area where that brand will be of assistance is with corporates.
