LOL, but if I didn't have that story to tell we would all be worse off (cept maybe you!). I think golf stocks surged that day on your performance over that single hole.

Oh what the hell, let's go with all the Clichés: "Play Big or go Home".......or something like that! I do agree with you though Jeff. Here in Europe I am getting so tired of all the preparation for failure before doing any new deals. There is way too much focus on "what if" in regards to "all-out" instead of simply "all-in". Even though I've often failed in life by simply saying "let's go for it", these were definately the most enjoyable decisions I've made.

Jeff,

I agree with you. As someone that actually will draw on real life experience rather than "business school" references, I believe
a person has to go into each challenge with full intent on success.

Otherwise, why play?

Sure, the "best" entrepreneurs are the ones who are all in, but many of the "worst" entrepreneurs went all in as well. When I take out an old ball to hit over the water, I'm not looking to make "the best" shot. I'm using an essentially free hedge against an obvious threat, and nevertheless doing everything I can to hit over the water. It's the same move any solid entrepreneur would make. Risk-seeking is not intelligence, though we often see both of those characteristics combined in the most successful entrepreneurs.

It's the same old problem of correlation vs causation. This reminds me of another article I read that stated 'many great entrepreneurs never graduated from college and were usually trouble makers in high school'. Well, I can tell you one thing...I remember one or two trouble makers from my high school that aren't exactly running Fortune 500 companies. The most intelligent of my classmates were often risk-seekers, but so were most of the least-intelligent.

Use the water ball.
