Say what you will about Novell, but the fact remains that Novell under Noorda was instrumental in making the PC something much more than just a desktop PC.

SALT LAKE CITY — Ray Noorda, the Novell Inc. founder who battled Microsoft Corp. in the early years of network computers, died Monday of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 82.
