The only way to get rid of the "static-ness" of corporate intranets is by adopting tools for bottoms-up/grassroots collaboration. Most decision makers do not understand the difference between blogs and wikis and the likes. Given the easy DIY nature of MediaWiki, WordPress, Movable Type,.etc. most of it can be up and running with little or no-IT help. This would lead to the intranet of the future -- The Writable Intranet. Writable Intranet where employees collaborate using Wikis, Blogs and applications interoperate using RSS.
