[...] Quite honestly, I think Starbucks is a greater risk to the health of teenagers than McDonalds. The fact that the company targets teenagers should not surprise anyone, but what should shock you is the nutritional data on their products. [...]

[...] Then there is that other strategy they apparently have to broaden the waistlines of far too many people who think a Venti white chocolate frappuccino at 760 calories is a good way to start the day. I have written about this before, but I wonder how many fast food and bad-food-in-school-vending-machines critics stop at Starbucks for a caramel frappuccino on their way to the press conference where they excoriate those they believe responsible for fattening Americans.
Jackie,
I'm with you on this one, I find it deeply offensive that any politician would seek to legislate my diet. If specific foods are hazards, e.g. cause cancer, then go for it but in the interests of weight management I say butt out.

This is exactly what traditional conservative Republicans mean when they talk about "big government". It's not about the size of the budget but rather the degree to which the law intrudes on our private life.

I don't see anything good about the intention to alter peoples' diets by involving the law and politicians. If someone chooses to chug straight lard shakes all day and stuff their face with Crisco cakes, I'm a lot happier for them to be free to be stupid than to have politicians taking money out of others' pockets because they judge a Frappuccino to be a 'sin'.

Ah, but the Venti® Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino® Blended Crème with Whipped Cream weighs in at 740 calories or 180 calories more then even the Big Mac.
