This is a really interesting “inside baseball” account of what the major search engines are dealing with, and as I was reading it I kept thinking about how search is just as essential for the internet experience as TCP/IP itself.
With $8 billion in the bank, Google is better resourced and more focussed than anyone – but it’s still struggling. Financial analysts noted that its R&D expenditure now matches that of a wireline telco.
