Can you say "Jack of all trades, and a master of none"?
Well, this fits into Ellison's latest vision of turning Oracle into an all you can eat software vendor/buffet.
What’s interesting about this approach, is that buffets usually offer ho hum food; why not taste, wilted vegetables, weak service, and nothing new. What do you get at the end of an all you can eat buffet?....you guessed it, HEART BURN.
If i was in Ellison's shoes I'd buy some Merck or Pfizer stock....they manufacture Pepcid and Zantac.

With a more DB centric view; can someone educate me on why the number 1 DB vendor in the world, and self-proclaimed king of DB knowledge and technology, would buy another DB vendor who's abilities they can replicate (even better) through effort and innovation?
