McDonald’s is open for discussion

McDonald’s has a blog for Corporate Social Responsibility (link via blog herald). Interesting. The blog has a big banner with the words “open for discussion” but when I read the comments to the first post, and there is only one post, I am struck by the observation that they didn’t respond to any of the comments. How much of a “discussion” is it if you aren’t doing any talking?
This is one of the few blogs I have seen with a “terms and conditions” page. I read it and found it quite interesting, In particular was this little gem:
McDonald’s has the right to make, have made, offer for sale, use, sell, copy, distribute, perform, transmit, display, modify, adapt and otherwise use your submission(s) throughout the world in perpetuity in any manner that it sees fit without compensation to you.Now I don’t take issue with idea of McDonald’s owning all of the content, including the comments, and having a right to use them without compensating anyone. No brainer. What I do take issue with is the notion that McDonald’s can take a comment posted on this blog, edit it and then use it in a marketing program…
